P A R A D I S E No. 3

Kristen Leigh Baker | 2024-2026

Medium: Ethically sourced hand-selected feathers, Lucite, artisan-sculpted canvas backing, and hand-tied vegan suede lace.

This striking structural textile work juxtaposes the organic softness of plumage with the clean, modernist edge of transparent Lucite. Featuring a lush, vibrant palette—where vivid hot pink and rich aqua cut through deep gradients of green, black, shades of blue —the piece commands attention through its high-contrast color theory.

At the center of the composition hangs a hand-formed crescent moon, tightly formed in vegan suede lace and structurally reinforced with canvas backing. Every element, from the hand-tied feathers to the wrapped Lucite bar, reflects hours of precise, deliberate craftsmanship. The resulting sculpture is a commanding, tactile focal piece designed to inject a bold, contemporary energy into high-end residential spaces.

    • Museum-Grade Bracket Installation Protocol

Architectural Presentation Note: This contemporary sculpture is designed for exhibition on custom optical-grade Lucite bracket shelves. This system ensures optimal distribution of weight, absorbs the depth variances of the integrated suede elements, and maintains a completely secure, floating presentation without wall adhesives or structural modifications to the artwork.

      I. Inside Your Custom Installation Kit

Your hardware pouch contains the following collector-grade components:

      • Two (2) Custom Optical-Grade Lucite Bracket Shelves: Engineered to support structural weight completely seamlessly while maintaining a floating silhouette.
      • Two (2) #6 Solid Brass Wood Screws & Two (2) Plastic Drywall Anchors: Premium, low-profile decorative fasteners and matching anchors designed to secure the bracket wall plates cleanly into studs or open drywall.
      • Two (2) 3/8" Diameter Acrylic Cabochons: Optically clear, these cabochons come professionally glued to the custom Lucite bracket shelves. This integrated safety feature prevents the sculpture's main Lucite rod from rolling off the shelf.

      II. Step-by-Step Installation Procedure

Step 1: Map and Align Brackets

Hold your two custom Lucite brackets against the wall surface, spacing them evenly to align beautifully with the sculpture's top bar. Ensure at least one bracket lines up directly over a structural wall stud (recommended). Mark the screw placement holes on your wall.

Step 2: Set the Precision Pilot Clearances

Utilizing a standard hand drill and a drill bit sized to match the core of your screws or drywall anchors, drill straight, shallow pilot channels into your wall marks.

      • Installer Note: Pre-drilling is required when working with brass screws. It removes dense wood fibers or opens the path for the plastic anchors, ensuring the screw threads can drive smoothly without stripping or shearing the decorative heads.

      Step 3: Secure the Brackets

If installing into open drywall, tap the enclosed plastic anchors into your pilot holes until they sit flush with the wall face. Position the brackets over your mounting points. Turn the #6 brass wood screws clockwise through the vertical wall plates until the clear bracket backings are anchored completely tight and flush against the drywall face. Do not over-tighten, to avoid cracking the clear acrylic mounting flange.

      Step 4: Seat the Assemblage

Lower the sculpture’s top Lucite bar directly onto the brackets behind the raised safety barriers.

      III. Archival Conservation Guidelines

      • UV Resistance: All custom optical-grade Lucite components are fully UV-stabilized. They resist yellowing, clouding, or degrading under intense gallery lights or direct natural sunlight.
      • Acrylic Friction Shield: Because the sculpture's main support bar and the bracket shelves are crafted from identical, ultra-smooth premium acrylic, the contact surfaces share a uniform hardness profile. This acrylic-on-acrylic seating naturally prevents friction wear, clouding, or scuffing at the resting points, eliminating the need for secondary sleeves, tapes, or wraps.

Structural Engineering Note: This contemporary tactile sculpture is engineered to utilize integrated genuine or vegan suede fasteners as structural counterweights. These elements help stabilize the clear optical-grade Lucite profile against your wall surface, absorbing depth variances.
